Hvordan vaske Tesla riktig uten å lage riper

How to wash your Tesla properly without scratching it

Why Tesla requires a little extra care

Tesla often has slightly softer paint than many other cars, making it more prone to wash marks if not handled carefully. Many find that the car looks perfectly clean right after washing, but small scratches eventually appear in the paint – especially visible in sunlight.

This usually happens because dirt and small particles are dragged across the surface during washing. Therefore, it's not just about washing the car, but how you do it.

If you want to understand more about why this happens and how to avoid it, you can read more here: How to avoid wash marks on Tesla.

Pre-wash is the most important step

The most important thing you do happens before you even touch the car. A good pre-wash removes as much dirt as possible so you don't have to drag it around later.

Start by rinsing the car thoroughly to remove loose dirt. Then, apply a pre-wash agent or foam and let it work before rinsing it off.

The Tesla Autoglym foam package makes it easy to apply an even layer of foam that encapsulates the dirt and lifts it away from the paint. When you rinse it off afterward, you've already done most of the work.

This is the step that largely determines whether you get scratches or not.

The right equipment provides a completely different result

When the car is ready for hand washing, it's important to use equipment that is gentle on the paint. Many still use old sponges or random cloths, but this is often one of the main causes of scratches.

Microfiber cloths are designed to lift dirt away from the surface instead of pressing it into the paint. This reduces friction and thus the risk of marks.

It may seem like a small detail, but this is often where the difference lies between a car that stays looking good and one that gradually accumulates more and more wash wear.

The wash itself – how to do it correctly

When washing the car, you should always start at the top and work your way down. The upper surfaces are cleaner than the lower ones, and this prevents you from dragging dirt back onto clean areas.

Rinse frequently as you go, and consider using the two-bucket method to keep the wash water cleaner throughout the process.

Once the car is washed, it's also a good idea to remove water that collects in mirrors, trim, and small details.
The Wolfbox Megaflow dust blower makes this much easier and reduces the risk of watermarks.

Rims and details create the overall impression

The rims are often the area that collects the most dirt, and it's also where the car quickly looks dirty again.

Koch Chemie Reactive Rust Remover dissolves metal particles and brake dust, making it easier to get the rims completely clean.

If the rims have accumulated small marks over time,
Quixx repair kit for rims can be used to improve their appearance without major intervention.

Drying and finish

Once the car is clean, drying determines the final result. If you use the wrong cloth or too much pressure, you can actually create marks even at this stage.

The Rag Company Liquid8r drying towel absorbs a lot of water, allowing you to dry the car more gently.

This provides a smoother finish and helps the car stay beautiful longer.

A clean car is also about the inside

The interior is a big part of the car experience. Even if the exterior is clean, a worn or dirty interior will detract from the overall impression.

Colourlock leather care keeps materials clean and helps the car feel more well-maintained over time.

Small steps that make a big difference

It's not necessarily the most expensive products that give the best results, but the correct method.

Avoid washing the car in direct sunlight, rinse thoroughly before you start, and use equipment designed for the purpose. These are the small things that determine whether the paint stays nice over time.

Once you've done it right once, you'll quickly notice how big a difference it actually makes.
